Everything you need to know

Practical
info.

First time at Dancehall Brunch? Welcome. Below is everything you need to walk in ready — from house rules to what is on the menu.

Who we are

Bokoesam ×
DJ Steesko.

Dancehall Brunch is presented by Bokoesam and DJ Steesko — two artists with a long history in the Dutch dancehall and Caribbean music scene. They put their name and their network on the line for every edition.

What we do

The concept.

Dancehall and Caribbean music played the way it should be, with real Jamaican & Dutch Caribbean street food (Truki Pan) from Oceanz and Caribbean Grill. We host every few months at different venues across Amsterdam — sometimes indoor, sometimes outdoor — but the energy is always the same: real music, good food, and a grown crowd that comes for the whole experience.

No gimmicks. No poses. We do this because we love it.

Our kitchen

Real
Jamaican food.

All our food is catered by two crews who do this right: Oceanz brings the proper Jamaican cooking — jerk, oxtail, plantain, rice & peas, ackee — straight from the yard tradition. Caribbean Grill brings the wider Caribbean dishes — curry, festival, steak and grilled chicken from the open fire. Together they cover the whole island plate.

Food is served from 16:00 until it runs out — so come early to make sure you eat. Vegetarian and vegan options always available. Allergies? Let the staff know — we will sort you out.

On the menu

  • Jerk Chicken — charcoal grilled, scotch bonnet & pimento.
  • Oxtail — slow-cooked Jamaican classic, melt-off-the-bone.
  • Curry Goat — slow-stewed with white rice.
  • Steak & Grilled Chicken — straight from Caribbean Grill's open fire.
  • Rice & Peas — coconut milk and kidney beans, classic.
  • Festival — fried sweet dumpling, perfect with the jerk.
  • Ackee & Saltfish — Jamaica's national dish.
  • Plantain — fried ripe plantain.
  • Veggie patty — for our vegetarian guests.
House rules

Protect di vibe.

We keep our events safe and easy. A few simple rules so everyone has a good time.

Respect first

Everyone welcome — we do not tolerate racism, sexism, homophobia or aggression. None of that, no exceptions.

Always bring ID

Always bring valid ID — passport, ID card or driver licence. No ID = no entry.

No drugs

Drug checks at the door. Any violation = straight out the event and police informed.

Filming? Ask first

Ask people before you film them — especially on the dance floor. Privacy first.

No outside drinks

Only drinks bought at the bar. No outside bottles or glasses.

Follow staff

Staff, security and host have the final word. Work with us, for your own safety.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What time should I arrive?
Doors open at 16:00. We say come between 16:00 and 18:00 — easy entry, time to eat from the buffet, and you build up to the party proper. After 19:00 it gets busy at the door.
Is there a dress code?
"Dress to vibe" — wear something you feel good in that fits a dancehall event. No tracksuits, no work clothes. Caribbean / urban / chic all welcome.
Can I reserve a table?
Yes, for groups of 8 or more. Message us via the contact page with date, group size and preferences. We confirm within 24 hours usually.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
If an edition is not sold out, yes — but more expensive than online and not guaranteed. Real talk: buy online via the schedule page.
What if I can not use my ticket?
Tickets are transferable — pass them to a friend. Refunds not possible unless we cancel the event.
Is there parking?
Limited and paid around venues. Tip: use one of the P+R lots in Amsterdam and take the metro. Or grab a bike, easier.
What if the weather is bad?
No problem — our events always run. Our venues have indoor space. A little rain not killing no vibe.
Can I host a birthday or company event with you?
Besides our public editions we also host private events. Mail info@dancehallbrunch.nl for a quote.
